Setting up Your Computer to Run Our Software
Many users of Windows XP have reported problems accessing the internet with our software. Our products are designed to access the internet automatically so that they can download data for you. However, in Windows XP, Microsoft has implemented a built in FIREWALL, which can be disabled if it doesn't allow our products to access the internet.
Other users write to us and describe that the text inside of our products is inside black windows which run across the screen. The reason this occurs is that your display settings include 16 bit color, which is a poor selection for colors anyway, and, therefore, NOT supported by our products.
See below for how to change your settings to eliminate one or both these problems.
PART 1 - Turning off the FIREWALL (Windows XP Users Only)
1) Click on the Start Button
2) Select the MY COMPUTER Button.
3) At the top of the Window which appears you will see the Menu Bar, and it includes the HELP button. Select the HELP button.
4) Choose "Help and Support Center".
5) You will then see an entry field, and you should type in the word "Firewall", and select SEARCH. If you see the help on "Enable or disable Internet Connection Firewall", then select that help, then follow those directions to DISABLE the firewall. If there is no help on this, or the help doesn't work, then this means you do not have to do anything. Later on, after using our software, you may ENABLE the firewall once again, to see if there is any effect on our software.
6) Select the BACK BUTTON in your browser to return to the Installation Page.
PART 2: Setting your Screen Colors for our products (All versions of Windows)
1) Click on any empty spot on your Windows Desktop, with the RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON - a RIGHT CLICK.
2) If you've done step 1, a popup will appear and the option you should select is called "Properties". Click on it with the LEFT MOUSE BUTTON.
3) A window will appear and this window is for your Display Properties. Click on the TAB labeled "Settings".
4) Now select the COLORS drop down arrow, and make sure you select any other setting besides "Medium" or "16 bit color". Other options will include "Highest" or 32-bit color. They might also be "256 colors" or even "16 colors". You will probably simply want to choose "Highest".
5) Finally, click APPLY then OK, then close this window.
6) Click the BACK BUTTON on your browser to return to our Installation Page.
